Hi' I'm Jason,
This is how and why I came to create Write Through Journals and why I'd like to give something back.
Following an earlier than expected retirement of over two decades in the UK Fire and rescue service, I've used journalling as a key element in my 4 years of recovery since my diagnoses of Complex PTSD and related mental health conditions in 2020/2021.
- December 2020, my consultant psychiatrist asked me to look out of "The window" (the window was in my room on a psychiatric ward) and tell her what I could see. I couldn't see what I should have seen through "The window" So she followed this by saying, "If you can't talk about it, write it down", then maybe we can talk
At that time I thought this was a very simplistic approach to the complexities of my mental health and where it had brought me.
However, I gave it a go.
- I started to look through "My window", (my mental health) I wrote about what I saw through "My window", I completely filled the walls with writing, drawings etc. I looked back through "My window", then we talked about what I'd seen through "My window".
- Fast forward to 2025, I create my own windows (my mental well being) to look through, I write about what I see through "My windows", I reflect on what I see through "My windows", and I talk about it
I closed "The window" and opened "My new window". Now I see whatever I choose to see through "My new window".
I've chosen a very simplistic design to the journal page, so the focus is on opening "your" window, looking through it, writing through it and if you want to, talk through it.
It's a very short insight into my story, but I will be talking about it through social media channels in 2026.
I’m proud to support the charity Mind for mental health via Work For Good
50% of every sale will be donated to the charity Mind via Work for Good.
I'm claiming Gift Aid to make it go even further. As a UK taxpayer, I can boost the value of the donation by 25% through Gift Aid.
Thank you for taking the time to read
Kind regards
Jason
